John Whitaker is the founder of Whitaker Law Group. A graduate, magna cum laude, of Cumberland School of Law, John has been practing intellectual property law for more than a dozen years. His focus is on helping his clients secure and enforce their intellectual property rights. He has extensive experience in the computer arts, including software and hardware.
John's practice involves all aspects of intellectual property law, with special emphasis on the litigation of intellectual property disputes, although John also has extensive experience helping his clients obtain and secure patent rights. Most notably, John assists companies to acquire patents in the areas of computer software and hardware, electronics, telecommunications, networks and other related technologies. An innate desire to learn combined with engineering work experience enable him to assist his clients with technologies ranging from the ordinary to the complex.
John also counsels clients on IP portfolio strategy and management, patent invalidity and non-infringement issues, freedom-to-practice concerns, and other issues related to intellectual property. He graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville (1991) and received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Cumberland School of Law (1996), where he was a member of the Cumberland Law Review.
